NFL Trade Rumors: Melvin Gordon deals with Houston Texans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Melvin Gordon may soon be available in the NFL trades as the Los Angeles Chargers will move him out soon. And if the NFL pundits are to be believed, Houston Texans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be the top contenders for Melvin Gordon.

While Gordon is seeking around $10 million for a season or a trade, there is no way his team would pay that much. Gordon is an NFL running back and to be honest; these guys are not so much in demand. The Chargers are kind of being hard on trade lines, and hence Gordon’s request would probably be rejected.

Further, Melvin is coming from a preseason injury, which kind of makes things worse for him. Most of the teams in NFL won’t be in the buyer’s list due to the AFL rankings and Chargers maintaining their positions. Houston Texans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the two NFL teams which can make a new deal with Gordon. Here are the possible trade deal reasons of Gordon with the Texans and Buccaneers.

Houston Texans

Houston Texans are kind of having a problem with their running back and can use Melvin Gordon. Lamar Miller is getting old and D’Onta Foreman has been on the injured list for a long time. The Texans have the second-most cap space in NFL after their south rivals Colts. It means that the team of Houston can easily afford Gordon without any trouble.

Gordon can improve the chances of Texans making it to the playoffs in the next NFL season. Along with that, Gordon can improve the downfield passing of Deshaun Watson, Deandre Hopkins, and Will Fuller by a significant margin. The Texans should get in touch with the Charges as soon as possible. Otherwise, Gordon could be traded somewhere else.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

NFL trade Melvin Gordon Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers has the second-lowest cap space in NFL with just $3 million in their purse. Still, it would make a lot of sense for the Buccaneers to pursue Melvin Gordon for their own good. Peyton Barber and Ronald Jones had a dreadful rookie season, and the team needs something fresh.

Tampa Bay could use a power runner to create deep shots and help Jameis Winston to provide a short outlet. Gordon and Bruce Arians could team up to take the Buccaneers to a whole new level. Given how low the Buccaneers on money, it won’t be a surprise if the Texans sign Gordon first.
