Bellator 224: Ed Ruth vs Kiichi Kunimoto – What Went Down?

Ed Ruth vs Kiichi Kunimoto was a major attraction at the Bellator 224 PPV. Kunimoto, who was fighting his first match in Bellator, was up against Ruth, who is known to be a rather ‘Ruth’less fighter.

Kunimoto, the more experienced of the two was formerly a part of the UFC but was acquired by Bellator recently. However, Ed Ruth managed to defeat his opponent in just two rounds at their bout. Let us take a closer look:

Ruth, who faced the first loss of his career in his previous match, was looking forward to bounce back – and what better way to do that than by defeating a more experienced name from the UFC.

Their Bellator 224 match started off with Ruth landing the first shot with a low kick but it was a back-and-forth between the two for the first round where Kunimoto dished out some punishment of his own.

Ruth then came onto Kunimoto with a flurry of punches followed by a fierce body kick which got his opponent on the mat and started pounding him with some punches to get a Technical Knock Out (TKO) win in the Ed Ruth vs Kiichi Kunimoto match.

This was a rather unfortunate bout for Kunimoto, who was fighting his first match in Bellator. Nevertheless, he did manage to hold his ground well by coming up with a counterattack on Ed Ruth in their match.

At Ed Ruth vs Kiichi Kunimoto, however, Ruth got back to his winning ways following the loss that he suffered against Neiman Gracie at the Bellator welterweight grand prix.
