Leonard sues Nike during NBA Finals
On Monday, Kawhi Leonard, a Toronto star, filed lawsuit charges against Nike over the logo rights. According to Leonard, the footwear giant Nike has featured a Klaw logo on its sneakers. The logo is believed to be owned by Leonard.
On a travel day for NBA finals, Leonard filed the federal lawsuit. On Monday, to precede the preparation for Game 3, Leonard along with the Raptors traveled to Oakland, California.
Game 3 is scheduled on Wednesday night, in opposition to Golden State Warriors.
The federal lawsuit against Nike was filed in California
As Kawhi Leonard calls San Diego his home, he filed the federal lawsuit against Nike over the unauthorized rights to use the “Klaw” logo, in California.
Until 2018, Leonard was the face of Nike. Now, He endorses New Balance.
On Monday, Nike’s Spokesman denied commenting adhering to the protocol of the company which does not allow discussing the pending litigation.
On Tuesday, while practicing for the NBA finals, Leonard has planned to speak with the reporters.
Nike used the Logo design “without the consent”: Leonard
The lawsuit claimed that Nike said to Leonard to refrain from using the Klaw logo earlier this year. However, on the basis of Copyright application of the logo designed by him, Leonard sued Nike.
Leonard claims Nike’s application as “unbeknownst to Leonard and without his consent.”
In another statement, Leonard planned to use the logo,
“on clothing lines, footwear and on other products and, among other things, in connection with sports camps and charity functions.”
The logo was designed by tracing his large hands, claims Leonard. He refined the logo in December 2011.
Leonard urges the court to decide the author of the logo and declare that Nike has adapted fraudulent practice while registering for the logo.
