Let us take a closer look at what was going to be different in this years’ India-Pakistan cricket match and why the Pakistan Cricket Board turned it down.

India vs Pakistan: Pak Team Wanted to Celebrate Indian Wickets ‘Differently’

While details on the specifics about this are still unclear, but it seems that members of the Pakistan cricket team had requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to celebrate every wicket of India that they take in a ‘different’ manner. The team wanted to do this to retaliate against Team India wearing army caps during an ODI against Australia in March.

As of this writing, we do not know what the ‘different’ celebration that Pakistan wanted was, but it has been turned down for the India vs Pakistan cricket match.

Why Did The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Say No?

Given the fact that the political tensions between the two nations are so high, it appears that the PCB made a wise choice by not accepting this request of their players and perhaps making it clear to them that sports and politics/hypernationalism should be kept separate. Nevertheless, we look forward to the India vs Pakistan cricket match on the 16th of June!
