Niki Lauda, the Austrian Formula One Legend dies aged 70

Niki Lauda, the former Formula 1 world champion passed away yesterday. Niki’s family informed the press that he died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. Lauda had a lung transplant 8 months ago, after which his health was always a bit low. Andreas Nikolaus “Niki” Lauda was his full name, born in 1949, he lived a life of 70 years.

Niki Lauda was considered a legend in Austria, one of the most famous F1 drivers of all time in the world. Niki’s lifelong dream was to become a racecar driver, but his family never supported him. He took a loan against his family wished and pursued his passion to become the greatest F1 driver of all time. The life of Niki Lauda will be an inspiration to everyone, he was truly a great man and will always be remembered.

Niki Lauda, the Austrian Formula One Legend, dies aged 70

The 2013 Hollywood movie Rush was based on the life of Niki Lauda and James Hunt. Daniel Bruhl and Chris Hemsworth played the respective roles in the movie directed by Ron Howard. It was based on 1976 Formula 1 motor racing season where Lauda had an accident and was burned severely. Still, he made a surprising comeback after 6 weeks and won the next championship while recovering from the injury.

Niki Lauda, the 3 times World Champion

Niki Lauda has won the F1 championship title 3 times in the year 1975, 1977 and 1984. The first two titles were won for Ferrari while the third for McLaren. Niki Lauda also helped Lewis Hamilton, the current Formula 1 champion to join the Mercedes team.
