NFL Rumors: Dak Prescott Becoming Too Expensive for Dallas Cowboys After Ezekiel Elliot Deal

Dak Prescott is the next name in Dallas Cowboys who could ask for more money. The Cowboys signed a new contract extension with Ezekiel Elliot at $90 million and it has inspired other players to ask for the same. The 26-year-old quarterback simply wants his worth and his regular deal comes near completion.

While Elliot’s holdout was the talk of the town, not much of the people actually care about Prescott. He is currently recovering from his injury and in a bad shape which makes it tougher. The Cowboys have spent so much on Elliot they have barely any money left in their cap space. Prescott is becoming too expensive for the Cowboys and they might use it an excuse to not pay him anymore.

Prescott and Elliot Money Comparison

Comparison with Ezekiel Elliot

Prescott is not the most important name in Cowboys which can take the team to next Super Bowl. Zeke is leading the NFL league in rushing yard and honestly, there is no comparison between a running back with a quarterback. To make it fair, Prescott should be compared with the highest-paid quarterback in the league such as Jared Goff and Carson Wentz.

Rams offered Goff 4 years, $134 million, $110 million guaranteed and Eagles gave Wentz 4 years, $128 million, $108 million guaranteed extension. It doesn’t mean that Prescott will be paid in the same class as he is not the star player for the Cowboys.

Dak Prescott needs to Prove Himself

Dak Prescott Worth

It doesn’t mean that Prescott won’t get a similar deal when his rookie contract ends next year. The Cowboys will try to postpone his extension till next year before figuring out a new deal. Jerry Jones has just spent $100 million on Ezekiel Elliot and to repeat that for Prescott is not affordable.

Dallas owner is one of the smartest businessmen out there and he might try to convince that a contract extension is not possible for this year. They might promise him a new deal and pay his increased salary when the time comes. But for now, they have got a reason that Prescott deal would cost them out of their budget.
