NBA: Lakers’ Anthony Davis Working on Three-Point Shots, to Become LeBron James Replacement

Anthony Davis is all set to play for the Los Angeles Lakers and there are high expectations from him. He needs to team up with LeBron James and makes his own place in a heavily loaded roster. Davis is very good while he plays near the basket but he needs to increase his skill set in order to make a difference.

Everyone in the NBA is trying to improve their three-point shooter and how can Davis stay behind. The 26-year-old power forward revealed that he is also working on the free throws and wants to perfect them. It also makes sense as LeBron James won’t be playing for much longer and they need someone to replace him.

Stepping up for Three-Point Shots

It is not like Davis was bad at shooting three-pointers, he successfully shot 33.1 percent from the beyond the arc to be exact. While he has shot 51.7 percent from the field which is the area he excels at. In the 56 games played last season, Davis had an average of 12.0 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.4 block and 1.4 steals in 33 minutes of action per game.

Anthony said that he is working hard to stretch the floor from a long distance because the game demands it. He wants to help the Lakers win the next NBA championship and for that three-point shooters have to be in higher thirties range.

Replacement for LeBron James

DeMarcus Cousins was brought in for the exact job of handling the space but his ACL injury has changed so many things. Dwight Howard is good in the role of supporting LeBron James and Anthony Davis but they won’t trust him in the middle.

James is getting old and slow and won’t play for much longer in the Lakers. The team needs someone to step up and become the next leader of the team and Davis is the perfect fit for the role. He will be handling most of the ball for Lakers in the NBA 2019-20 season and 3-pointers are essential for victories.
