NFL Roster Cuts 2019: Last Date, Timings, Deadline Rules, Practice Squad Players and More

NFL Roster Cuts are going to start for the present year and a lot of players will be removed from the team roster. The rules have been changed from the last years and this time there will only be a single deadline. Every NFL team will have to finalize its roster for the regular season games and trim the team players from 90 to 53.

There will only be a two-day deadline to remove the 37 players from each team roster and it will be the final chance to make a decision. Other features include practice squad players and injured list, which is much complicated than it seems. Here are the 2019 NFL roster cuts schedule, date and time, deadline along with the salaries for practice squad members.

Roster Cuts Deadline Schedule

The last deadline to cut the 90 man roster to 53 players for the 2019 NFL is Saturday, August 31. As the NFL preseason games end on August 29 with the last day of Week 4, all the 32 teams will only have a time period of two days. It makes the last day of preseason much more important as it will be the final factor for player selection.

Every team will have to submit their 53 players list before 4 pm EST in New York time to NFL. Most of the team coaches will select the players on Friday, August 30 itself. The deadline for claiming the players on waivers will be Sunday, September 1st. Also, the list for Active/Physically unable to perform or Active/Non-Football injury or illness will also be updated.

Once the waiver claims period ends on Sunday, September 1, practice squad selection will start after around an hour at 1 pm EST. Practice squad players can only be signed by the clubs once every team is informed about his availability. The players belonging to the practice squad list are eligible for a minimum salary of $8000 per week.

NFL practice squad includes the rookie players and undrafted free agents. The players on the list should not have more than two accrued NFL seasons (six games) and they can’t play any game in the regular season.
