NBA Trade Rumors: Celtics and Cavaliers Deals for Gordon Hayward, Jordan Clarkson and Tristan Thompson

Boston Celtics are in need of new players as their main star Kyrie Irving has left the team and joined Brooklyn Nets. While Irving has joined Kevin Durant in the Nets, there is no one to play alongside Gordon Hayward in the Celtics. It is no doubt that Hayward is great in offense but the team needs someone in the defense more.

With the NBA 2019-20 season around the corner, Boston needs to deepen their roster. They need new players in their team in order to make it to the playoffs. Until now, Boston Celtics has been refusing any trade inquiries for Gordon Hayward. It might change soon as the Celtics are ready to deal Hayward in exchange for Jordan Clarkson and Tristan Thompson in exchange from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Jordan Clarkson and Tristan Thompson in Exchange

The trade deal will make a lot of sense for Boston Celtics as their defensive side has gotten very weak after Al Horford moved to the Philadelphia 76ers. Celtics have to think about the present season and even their future years while making a new deal. The team needs a defensive center and Tristan Thompson would fit exactly in the Celtics roster.

In the last season, he had an average of 10.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists for the Cavalier. Along with that Thompson also managed to stop his opponents at 56.1 percent shooting from the rim. Adding Jordan Clarkson also makes a lot of sense as he could be their sixth man in the offensive line. The 27-year-old had an average of 16.8 points per game even after coming off from the bench.

Celtics and Cavaliers needs Fresh Start

Celtics and Cavs

Gordon Hayward is not the same player once was after his season-ending injury during NBA 2017-2018 season against the Cavaliers. He just had an average of 11.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game for the Celtics in the last season.

While just two years ago, Hayward was an NBA All-Star with an average of 21.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. While Clarkson and Thompson will add to the Celtics defense, Hayward can also space the floor for the Cavs. Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers both need a fresh start and the deal could make it possible.
