Madison Bumgarner has not been traded by the Giants even after so many rumors, and the trade deadline has ended. It means that Bumgarner will be a part of the San Francisco Giants for at least a few more months.
While Bumgarner was fully confident in himself not traded, the Giants had second doubts about the deal. But in the end, the Giants made a tough call, and their decision could come to haunt them very soon.
Ray Black, Sam Dyson, Drew Pomeranz, and Mark Melancon were traded to keep MadBum and Will Smith in their bullpen. Many of the sports and trade analysts have been questioning Farhan Zaidi’s (manager of Giants) stance on not dealing Bumgarner out. As per them, Giants not making a deal for Madison Bumgarner could become their biggest mistake in MLB trade history.
Bumgarner to become Free Agent Soon
The Giants have not traded Madison Bumgarner, and he will play with them for only a few more months. If the Giants somehow make it to the playoffs, then also MadBum will become a free agent after three months. If a realistic approach is applied to the matter, there is no way the San Francisco team make it to the next stage of MLB.
Madison Bumgarner spent months thinking he was gone. A 17-3 run kept him with the Giants, who are are going for it.

Also asked @SpeakerPelosi how she felt about Madison Bumgarner remaining a Giant. She offered a chuckle.

It merely means that Bumgarner will be free to choose whatever team he wishes as a free agent. Even if he is ready to re-sign with the Giants, he would cost them a high amount. MLB trade deadline was the perfect time to trade out Bumgarner and get the best return, but the Giants have missed it out.
Best Deal from Yankees
The Yankees were one of the most interested teams in Madison Bumgarner and would have even paid a high price in a trade deal. Since they lack good starting pitchers, the Yankees might have given Deivi Garcia and Estevan Florial to the Giants.

Zaidi should have gone for future assets and rebuild a better team for the future seasons. The upcoming few months will tell whether the move of not trading Bumgarner works or not. There are high chances that not making a deal backfires, and the Giants have to regret their Bumgarner no-deal.
