NBA Point Guard Rankings: Stephen Curry, Russel Westbrook, Damian Lillard, Kyrie Irving, and Ben Simmons

NBA point guards are the most important players in the game as the score depends on them. No matter how much strong defense a team have, it is of no use without an offensive guard. Today, every NBA team depends on their point guards to score and make them win the game.

As the NBA 2019-20 season is approaching, every team is trying to strengthen their guard positions. Here are the top point guards in the NBA and how they can shape up the next season.

1. Stephen Curry – Warriors

There is no doubt in the talent of Stephen Curry, but he was always overshadowed by Kevin Durant in the Warriors. Now that Durant has left the team, Curry is the top player in the Dubs team. The 2 times MVP had an average of 27.3 points, 5.2 assists, and 5.3 rebounds in the last NBA season. The future of Warriors depends on Curry and there are already speculations that he will win the next MVP title too.

2. Russel Westbrook – Rockets

Russel Westbrook is the only player in NBA history to have a triple-double three times, breaking the record of Oscar Robertson. He had an average of 22.9 points, 10.7 assists, and 11.1 rebounds in the previous season. Westbrook scored 20 points, 20 rebounds, and 21 assists against the Lakers earning him his third 20-20-20 in NBA. Now that Westbrook is paired up with his former partner James Harden, there are high chances that the Rockets ends up as a final contender.

3. Damian Lillard – Trail Blazers

Damian Lillard is slowly becoming one of the best point guards in the NBA and has a great future ahead. He has been a part of the NBA All-Star teams 4 times, it could have more but the Portland team didn’t do well in the playoffs. Lillard had an average of 33 points in the past seasons and even managed to beat Paul George when his team defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder. The defense squad of Warriors was fully focused on stopping Damian, showing how much damage he can do in the next NBA season.

4. Kyrie Irving – Nets

Irving is a 6-time All-Star player with an average of 23.8 points, 6.9 assists, 5 rebounds, and 40% 3 points shooting in the last season. Now that Kyrie is a part of the Nets team, they are also in the race to win the NBA 2020 finals.

Ben Simmons is one of the tallest point guards in the NBA but he has to learn a lot. In the last NBA season, Simmons had an average of 16.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 7.7 assists over each game played. He is still kind of a rookie, but the Philadelphia 76ers have shown faith in him by extending his contract.
