Golden State Warriors has lost three of its best players in the free agency, and now things have changed. Once they were the top contender for the next NBA title, and now they are having a tough time for even filling their roster. Kevin Durant, Andre Iguodala, and DeAndre Jordan left time after new trade deals.
Since Klay Thompson is injured and D’Angelo Russel won’t be in there for much time, the whole responsibility now comes on Stephen Curry. It is no doubt that Curry is a great player, but can he do the same without Durant. The Warriors wants Curry to be the next Durant for them, which is very hard to follow.
Stephen Curry without the support of Durant
Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant always played together for the Warriors and have scored most of the points for them. There have been a few times when Durant was out of the game due to injuries or some other reason, and Curry had a tough time to follow up.
In the 18 games played by Curry during that, he had an average of 26.9 points, 7.8 assists, and 4.8 rebounds. It means that as a solo star, he is an average player for the Warriors. While it might also happen because of improper coordination between Curry and other players, the same can happen again. Stephen Curry needs to improve his game and work on his play without Durant on the court.
Can Curry Replace Durant?
While the compatibility is also an issue, there is one other problem too with Stephen Curry. The player is currently 31 years old and will be 32 by next season of NBA. In NBA, player above 30 age is having a period called Father Phase, where they get slower each day.

There are also possibilities than under immense pressure and is the leading man; Curry gets injured in any future games. He is a talented player who has won 2 MVPs so that he can handle the ball. The Warriors needs to trust Curry and train him to be their leading man for the NBA 2020 finals.
