Age of Empires 4 release date gets an update by Microsoft

Microsoft had gone silent after announcing that Age of Empires 4 is in the works. So PCGamer decided to address this issue and spoke to Phil Spencer, Executive VP of Gaming at Microsoft.

Microsoft head confirms Age of Empires 4 release making progress

When confronted with the question about the details of Age of Empires 4, Phil said that the development team is making good headway. He cautiously strayed away from the specific details of the game.

According to Spencer, the move of keeping the details a secret is a precaution so that the development team can take the game in the right direction with a correct context.

This statement draws parallels to what the level designer of Cyberpunk 2077 has said in the past.

Spencer further explained that development is an iterative process in which ideas are created, scraped, revied, and killed through the development cycle.

Looking at the stance of Spencer and Relic Entertainment, the studio behind the development of the game it is clear that both are in the same boat.

Spencer made it clear Relic and Microsoft is not hesitating in taking cues and inspirations from the last three titles of the franchise. Developers are also collecting info and suggestion from the community reports PCGamer.

Even though the details in the trailer are scarce many are speculation are on the rise. According to the speculation, the game will play through different times of history.
