Interestingly, the couple’s official Instagram account @sussexroyal has unfollowed all members of the royal family! This includes everyone ranging from Kate Middleton and Prince William, the Queen, Prince Charles to Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. Let us take a closer look as to why this happened:
Why Did Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Unfollow The Royals?
The duo unfollowed the Royal family (including The Queen herself!) because they wanted to promote awareness about mental health and are only following organizations that deal with the cause. They added that May is Mental Health Awareness Month in the US and May 13 to May 19 is the Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK. Hence, they decided to unfollow members of the Royal family and follow only organizations that promote this cause.
The couple also put up a collage of 9 photos paying tribute to various mental health charities.
Is There a Rift in the Royal Family?
While some followers of the Royal Family initially took it as a sign of a rift between the couple and their Royal family, it turned out this was not the case and they had unfollowed them only for a charitable reason. We’re sure other members of the family won’t be offended by this act!
