Special Season 2 release is a definite possibility
Speculations regarding season 2 of the show cannot be confirmed right now. Netflix is yet to announce their verdict on the show. The online streaming website needs to evaluate the viewing data for a few more months before deciding the fate of Special season 2.
Fans are nevertheless hopeful. The show might not get scrapped after just one season. Moreover, since an episode runs just for 15 to 20 minutes, it is relatively inexpensive to produce this series.
Ryan’s autobiography and Special’s plot
Special is based on the autobiography of Ryan O’Connell titled
I’m Special: And Other Lies We Tell Ourselves.
The story focuses on the adventures of a gay man who suffers from cerebral palsy. He refuses to let his disability stop him from achieving his goal of becoming a writer.
O’Connell plays himself in the series and is also the executive producer of the show. When asked about how it felt when Netflix gave the green light to his show, Ryan said,
“It feels very surreal because I didn’t think that any of this could be possible. I’ve been working in Hollywood for six years now, and I know that even the best ideas, even the best shows, with the best talent attached, the odds of one actually getting shot and made and released is very medium rare.”
You can watch the first season of Special on Netflix right away. However, for a word on Season 2, we’ll have to wait for a while.
