Google’s Pixel line-up of devices are always known for their classy camera but are very expensive. The Pixel 3a does all these but is economical and comes with not-so-great specifications.
What are the similarities? What are you missing by picking up the Pixel 3a instead of Pixel 3? Here’s how the two fair against each other in terms of specs, price, built and more.
Design And Built
At a glance, you won’t even notice any disparities between the two. Both the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3 have very similar design elements, it looks like Google used the same chassis for the production of the former.
Only by examining the devices closely you’ll notice the variations. the flagship Pixel 3 is having a glass and aluminum built. Whereas the cheaper Pixel is fully made up of plastic to cut the cost.
The cheaper Pixel comes in three color options, black, white and purple tones.
Pixel 3 also comes in three color variants, black, white and Pink.
Screen
Google compromised on the built quality for the Pixel 3a by using plastic but, that’s not the case with the Screen. both the flagship Pixel 3 and the cheaper Pixel spot a full-HD OLED panel. The only difference is in the screen size. Pixel 3a comes with a 5.6in display as when compared to 5.5in on the Pixel 3.
Camera
Pixel 3 camera is an industry standard the camera can KO any other phone in the segment. Pixel 3’s dual set-up camera is feature-rich and diverse. It comes with 12.2MP primary sensor on the back at f/1.8 aperture with OIS(optical image stabilization)
The Pixel 3a sports a sole 12.2MP camera lens with Sony IMX363 sensor on. unlike the Pixel 3, the 3a doesn’t have the “group selfie” feature.
Performance
Here you will see a clear difference between the two products. the Pixel 3 has a far superior chip from Qualcomm the Snapdragon 845, which is the second best SoC available in the market.
The Pixel 3a, on the other hand, has a mid-range chip from Qualcomm i.e the Snapdragon 670. You won’t notice any major difference between the two phones while performing day to day tasks. It’s only when heavy duty tasks are performed the weakness of Snapdragon 670 is noticeable.
Final Verdict
At just $400, the Pixel 3a is a killer deal the thing has quality camera’s, decent processor and a good battery life barring the plastic built you can’t go wrong with the 3a.
Only if you’re a hardcore gamer, or have the budget of shelling out enough, Pixel 3a is your best bet.
