NASCAR results: Brad Keselowski wins Digital Ally 400

Earning his third victory of the year, Brad Keselowski emerged triumphant at the Kansas Speedway on Saturday night, winning the Digital Ally 400.

Leading when it matters

The driver proved the famous adage correct that the only lap that matters is the final one. Of the total 271 laps, Keselowski led the Digital Ally 400 in only 12. What was important, though, was that when the checkered flag was waving, he was in front of the pack.

On the other hand, Alex Bowman who came in the second led 63 laps but couldn’t pull off the one that mattered the most.

Bowman was especially unlucky, finishing second for the third week in a row. He looked likely to pull off a win for the majority of the final stage, but couldn’t close out the race as well as he started it. The third podium position went to Erik Jones, who finished third for the second time this season.

End of a streak

Digital Ally 400 turned out to be the end of a streak for Kyle Busch. Looking to break the record for most consecutive top-10 finishes, his streak ended at 11 as he finished at the 30th position. He was in the lead with 50 laps left but was sent to the rear as a penalty for driving through too many pit boxes.

More disappointment for Stewart-Haas

It was another disappointing race for Stewart-Haas Racing Team. The team is yet to get its first win on record this season. This was even after bagging top four qualifying times at the end of qualifications on Friday.

From the beginning of the race itself, it was apparent that it wasn’t going to be a good day for the team. Two of the cars failed the pre-race inspection and were sent to the rear.

In the end, hometown favorite Clint Bowyer was the best finisher for the team, ending in the fifth position.

The next race on the calendar for NASCAR is the Monster Energy All-Star Race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 18.
