So, what will these shows be about? Will we finally know the mystery of the Night King? Or are we going to follow Arya’s adventure into ‘West of Westeros’? We still don’t know much about the prequel or spin-off. But, there are some things that we know of.

So, here’s everything we are sure of about the Game of Thrones prequel.

How many Game of Thrones spin-offs will be there?

Two years ago, there was news of a group of major writers being involved in shows which would succeed Game of Thrones. And so far, the one created by George R.R.Martin and Jane Goldberg is currently under works. Goldman has written the teleplay for the first episode and will be the showrunner. S.J.Clarkson will be the director.

Casey Bloys, the creative director of HBO, recently had an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. And he was asked to clarify about these shows and what is going on with them. He said,

“I am not going to clarify anything about the shows. All I will say is that we are going to shoot the first pilot in June. Also, there are two more under works. Other than that, there’s nothing else to say.”

What is the name of the first Game of Thrones spin-off?

There has been no official announcement regarding the name of the prequel. George R.R.Martin prefers the name ‘The Long Night.’ But, it seems highly unlikely that this will be the name. Because, if you remember, this title was used for the third episode of Game of Thrones season 8.

There have been reports that the pilot will be produced in Belfast. And it is being produced under the code name Bloodmoon. But, it won’t be the official title though.

What will be the prequels about?

Jane Goldman’s series is set during the time of ‘Age of Heroes’. This is the period when the White Walkers were posing as the main threat in Westeros. So, there are chances that we will get to see important characters such as Bran, the Builder. We will also get to see the Children of the Forest and how they came about to create the Night King.

Who will be cast in the Bloodmoon prequel?

Two-star casts have already been announced. The first one is Naomi Watts, who is playing the role of a socialite who holds a dark secret with her. And the second is Josh Whitehouse. We still don’t know about the role that he is going to play.

In January 2019, some other actors were added to the star cast list. So now, Alex Sharp, Denise Gough, Georgie Henley, and Ivanno Jeremiah will also star in the spin-off. Other than them, Jamie Campbell Bower, Naomi Ackie and Toby Regbo will also star in the spin-off. Also, Miranda Richardson is the most recent addition to the list.

When will the first Game of Thrones spin-off release?

Casey Bloys had told THR they are not rushing with the spin-off series. The timeline is going to fit the pilot to series order. The pilot of Game of Thrones was shot in the 2009 fall. And the show made its debut after 18 months in 2011 spring. So, if we assume the upcoming pilot does not need any reshoots, we will be able to watch it earlier. Nevertheless, the earliest we can hope to see a Game of Thrones spin-off series is in late 2020 or 2021.
