Game of Thrones Update: It receives low critics ratings
The episode was titled The Long Night, and it ran for nearly an hour and a half. Nearly 18 million people tuned in to watch the episode. The final battle for Winterfell broke record high numbers, according to the Mail Online.
But when it comes to ratings, the episode tanked. It got a 75 percent rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, the second lowest any Game of Thrones has ever received.
Lighting problems
But a lot of fans were angry at the lighting problem that this episode faced. Because the Night King attacked Winterfell just before dawn, the setting was dark, and fans were upset that it was hard to see anything at all.
Many Twitteratis commented on the poor lighting conditions in this installment. One fan wrote,
“I know the night is dark and full of terrors, but can we make the episode visible at least?”
Another said,
“This episode of Game of Thrones is dark. And not in a good way. I literally can’t see what’s going on.”
Fans were also upset about the plot itself. The last few minutes showed Arya stabbing the Night King to death, finally defeating the army of the dead once and for all. Audiences did not seem too happy about this anticlimactic conclusion.
To catch the next episode of season 8 of Game of Thrones, tune in to HBO at 9 pm on Sunday.
