Apple announced a recall of its AC power adapters that were available in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and Singapore. The three-pronged Apple Power Adapter is designed to work with the wall sockets in these aforementioned countries.

In a press release, Apple mentioned that these power adapters have a chance of breaking and which will cause an electric shock if the exposed metal is touched accidentally. Apple also confirmed that they are aware of the since incidents worldwide related to these power adapter wor
These Apple power adapters were shipped with various iOS and Mac devices that are manufactured between 2003 and 2010. Apple World Travel Kit also included this adapter.
It should be noted that this recall is only applicable to the old style three prong adapter. Apple has launched the new variants that work perfectly fine.
Who is affected by the recall?
Apple cited that its consumer’s safety is the top priority and the tech giant is asking the users to discontinue the use of these power adapters.
The power adapters in question are white in color and do not have any text printed on its rear slot. In contrast, the new and safe to use power adapter contains these text.
It is possible that even though you are not from these aforementioned countries but still affected by the recall.
According to Apple, the customer will be able to exchange these faulty adapters for a new one. The exchange is free of cost. User can change the adapters at Authorized Apple Service Center or at an Apple Store.
Consumers will need the serial of the number of their device in the process. Apple has also launched an online portal to guide you through this exchange process.
