Apple iOS 13 update for iPhone, iPad release hits a snag

Apple is mulling over to drop a number of iPhones from the iOS 13 update list, reports The Verifier. The website claims that Apple will not release the update of soon-to-be previewed iOS 13 for several devices including iPads.

The Verifier states limited iOS 13 compatibility on iDevices

According to the list released by The Verifier, iPhone 5s, iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, and iPhone 6s Plus are the phones that will not receive the iOS 13 update.

As for iPads, unsupported devices for the iOS 13 update would include iPad Mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPad Air, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4.

iOS 13 updates: The implications of the Report

If Apple drops the support, it would imply that any device released before 2016  would become obsolete. The Verifier made a bold claim that Apple will restrict some of the features of iOS 13 update on older iPhone and iPad devices. They justified it as an act to force the users to make an upgrade.

It is somewhat true that some features of the iOS 13 update will be restricted on few devices due to the hardware limitations. However, many people have questioned the legitimacy of the report from this Israeli site.

Both iPhone 6s and fifth-gen iPad should be on the list of unsupported devices. However, iPhone 6s is not. This makes no sense considering the fact that both devices use the same A9 chip.

The legitimacy of the Report

The Verifier has provided some semi-accurate information related to Apple in the past but its credibility remains questionable.

For example, in 2017, The Verifier claimed that Apple would bring Group FaceTime to iOS 11. But that did not happen until iOS 12.1. The report came true after a year of prediction.

So let’s take this report with a pinch of salt. Apple has a history of supporting their devices for quite a long time anyway. To know more about iOS 13 update, stay tuned to HipToro.
