There has been a huge hype about the Game of Thrones season 8 ending. But knowing the fact that the show is now ahead of the books, should we even watch it? Should we have waited for George RR Martin to write the end?

Fans are searching each episode for tiny hints and clues on how the Game of Thrones ending might happen. The viewers have loved the show till now and books have been navigating it till now. But there was a delay in Martin’s last book. This means that the Game of Thrones series is on its own now.

Should the showrunners have waited for Martin to write the book before giving a conclusion to the show? Should they be allowed to ruin the end for the readers?

It all began with A Song of Ice and Fire in 1991. George R.R. Martin released Game of Thrones in 1996. Thus, began one of the world’s most loved and greatest stories. The books that followed include A Clash of Kings (1998), A Storm of Swords (2000), A Feast for Crows (2005) and A Dance with Dragons (2011). The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring are still not out yet.
The show has not completely followed the books, just taking some clues here and there. Martin has already told D.B. Weiss and David Benioff about the ending just in case something goes wrong. There is definitely trust between the team and they have been working together for long now.

Does this imply the showrunners have the liberty to give the show a conclusion before the show does? Martin has been very happy with the show and all the love it has received. Tragically, only a few fractions of people have read the book and some even don’t know about it.
Martin wanted the show to have some more seasons of Game of Thrones, but it was only fair that the actors and the showrunners go on to focus on other work.
