After TikTok ban, India aims to ban PUBG

The Indian government a year ago banned pornographic websites and platforms. Following up to that, the Indian government issued a ban on the popular short video app called TikTok. According to the court, they found out that the app is hosting content related to child pornography Compelling to the government’s order, Both Apple and Google removed the TikTok app from their corresponding app stores. The ban hammer is now looming upon the Tencent game too PUBG is supposed to be banned by the Indian Government

The app not only is removed from the Google and Apple stores but third-party app stores such as Mi Apps and App store on Oppo and Vivo devices have also followed the suit.

You can still use the app in case you have it installed on your device the service is still live but you cant download a fresh app from various app stores.

PUBG BAN IMMINENT?

And now PUBG players are worried sick that their favorite game might now come under the scanner. The popular multiplayer game is already banned in the Indian city of Rajkot and now the citie’s police have urged Google to remove the online battle royale game from their Store.

Back on March 9th, the Rajkot police even arrested 10 people playing PUBG and now they can be prosecuted under section 188 of The Indian Penal Code. Recently Nepal and Iraq both joined the list of countries banning the online video game.

SUP? WITH THESE BANS?

India has a long history of bans in its lifetime many sites and apps like Reddit, Telegram and even streamable have been banned or blocked by certain ISP’s with little or no explanation. The government has blocked as much as 254URL’s citing ‘security reasons’.

Tiktok in their defense said that the ban is “hurting the rights of the citizens of India” the company said that “the ban amounts to curtailing of free speech”.

These bans lack any sort of logic and intent there are a variety of ways through which a workaround can be made. Alike bans have been enforced in other countries as well but no visible progress has been made.

It looks like the country is unwaveringly slithering into a heavily censored Internet that bears resemblance to the Chinese.
