Captain Marvel 2 might be made in the coming times to continue the story of Carol Danvers further. Set in the late 90’s, Captain Marvel surely ends as a stealth Avengers prequel, apart from being a solo story.

It explains why Nick Fury formed the group initially, how the ’Avengers’ name came up and what is the future for the heroes in Avengers: Endgame.

Captain Marvel 2 release hinted by Marvel?

Even though Captain Marvel has joined a lot of dots to the Avengers story, there is also the possibility of a Captain Marvel 2. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has also hinted that this might not be Brie Larson’s solo superhero movie. He told Screen Rant that a first film is a brainstorm on the future.

What will happen in Captain Marvel 2?

So, what happens in the first movie that hints us to a possible Captain Marvel 2? The movie ends with Carol going into space with the Skrulls to help them find a new home planet. She also left Fury with a special pager to contact her for emergencies.

Now, Fury does use that pager in the final moments of Avengers: Infinity War. And the Captain Marvel post-credits scenes show what happens when Carol responds to that message. But, Captain Marvel 2 hints that there are upcoming adventures for Carol which should be set in between these two events. And these adventures might relate to Ronan, The Accuser.

Captain Marvel 2 storyline predictions

To brush up your memory: Ronan was the main villain in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film played by Lee Pace. And in the final moments of Captain Marvel, Carol threatens Ronan to leave Earth. But, after that, he promises to get her back. So, these two might cross paths again. And oddly enough, Ronan hardly had any role in Captain Marvel. And also, Ronan died in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. So, it is likely that we will see Carol and Ronan clash at some point between the Captain Marvel scenario and the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Also, for Captain Marvel 2, Carol gives us a clue. She said that she will return to Kree and fix the war and the lies of the Supreme Intelligence there.

So, maybe Captain Marvel 2 will deal with the storyline about what happens when Carol returns to the Kree. She might be having one more fight with Yon-Rogg.

Captain Marvel 2 release date speculation

Captain Marvel 2 release date hasn’t even been hinted by Marvel just yet, so everything at this point is only an educated guess. That being said, considering that Captain Marvel is still in theaters, MCU fans shouldn’t expect the sequel to release before mid 2021.
